Sticky gear selector
The gear selector footswitch was getting a bit sticky. Had it off this morning and managed to get it apart enough to force some oil and grease inside, so it is at least temporarily useable. But, I couldn't get the footrest shaft fully out from inside the lever. Any tips?
What is stopping this coming apart? Can I get the steel washers that go on either sliding face of the gear lever? I have damaged both a little in attempting to get it apart. Any tips would be handy. |

Re: Sticky gear selector
Good evening all.
Sounds like the bush inside the lever has started to swell. This is usually caused by corrosion on the lever forcing the bush on to the shaft. Try to, get the lever fully off the shaft, & see if you can file or sand the bush a little until it rotates smoothly. It's either that, make a new bush, or a new lever. Cheers. |

I hit it with a lump hammer whilst the lever was clamped in the vice and it seemed more likely that I would bend or break the lever than shift the shaft out. I tried levering it with a large, long, flat bladed screwdriver and all I succeeded in doing was making a mess of the steel washer on the sliding face. I need help as force alone is not winning or likely to win |
