Conti Road Attack?
Hi all, looking for some advice please. When I bought my 2003 SV650 naked, it has Conti Road Attack 2 front and rear. The rear is getting square and will soon need replacing. As the front is still good, I only want to replace the rear and I don't like to mix manufacturers.
I see that Continental now do an Evo version of the Road Attack 2 for very little extra. Does anyone have any experience of the Evo tyre and what their opinion of it is?

Re: Conti Road Attack
No, I already checked. The recall is for a narrower tyre. 120/60 I think.

Re: Conti Road Attack?
I don't know the miles because I bought the bike with them on. The bike had just short of 8000 on the clock then and the tyres weren't new. The bikes a 53 plate so was 10 years old when I bought it 2 years ago.
I just MOT'd it and the mileage is shown as 13992, so I've done 6000 miles on it, almost entirely commuting up the A140 to work. It passed the MOT OK but the garage gave an advisory that the rear would need changing soon. It's pretty square anyway. The Road Attack 2 on the front still has loads of life in it.

Re: Conti Road Attack?
That's not a bad milage for a commute.
The Michelin PR 3 or 4 is probly the sensible option for grip and milage after the front gives up

Conti Road Attack?
I used to get 10000 out of a rear and 20000 on a front. But TBH I'd look at the state of the front even with tread left. I found Road Attacks went hard with time. The handling went off before I wore the tread down. I found that if you pushed a corner hard the front would wash out when the tyre was getting old.

Re: Conti Road Attack?
Old tyre's I wish I had that problem lol.
The Metzler on the front of the 675 doing well. It's now nearly a year old. 6,000 miles. Never tracked. And not ridden anywhere close to the limit

Re: Conti Road Attack?
Update. I went for a Conti Road Attack II Evo in the end. I bought it online from Tyreleader and it was shipped from southern Germany the next day. £101.89 for the tyre and £15 to fit. Tyreleader was the cheapest I found and can recommend their service.
I went for the Evo version because of 3 reasons: 1. it was only £5 more expensive than the standard Road Attack II 2. Its a single compound tyre but the compound is specially heat treated so that it acts like a dual compound but there is a gradual change between the hard centre and the soft shoulders. 3. The tyre comes with a roughened surface so that it doesn't need scrubbing in.
