Another newbie
Just thought i'd say a big hello to everyone, been lurking for a couple of week's now. I've just become the proud owner of a 2001 sv650s, has got a few goodies ie zorst, k&n, dyno-jetted rear sets and a few other bit's. Now, this is my first 'big' bike (although i've ridden a fair few)having worked at a motorcycle dealer from the age of 13 until i was 19 (rafferty newman's in exmouth road portsmouth if anyone remembers them!) The wife think's it's a mid life crisis thing (i'm now 40) having been into cars my whole life you know rs cossies then mk2 escort rally slag then got into kitcars- just sold my last one to finance the new 'era'- it was a locost (westfield/caterham/lotus seven alike running a 99 yam R1 engine (oh yeah it was TURBO'ed!) had the full monty -je pistons, carillo rods custom cam, converted from carbs to throttle bodies (from a gsxr1000!!) apparently it was built for aston martin for a project vehicle at a cost of over £13k! i then sunk a fair few quid into it, putting in a custom ecu, custom intercooler, fuel pump etc (when i first got the car it was running a zx9r c2 lump that made 136hp at the wheels) got it running but never had it mapped/dynoed and i worked out it needed another £1200+ to get it right. It was a picture of a naked curvy (flak monkey's) that got me interested in the sv (always liked the duke monster but think the sv is better) so shmbo told me to sell my 'toy' and get one! As luck would have it a fella at work had one for sale so here i am. It needs a few bit's and pieces to get it ready for the mot (all brakes were seized, running rough, and still needs a basic service and a front tyre) but i only paid £500 for it-so well happy. managed to strip all the calipers down and discovered all the pistons are well shagged so deciding what to get-new calipers-or new pistons (already got the seals but can return them)Also on the to do list is get my license! already booked my theory (i've only been driving 23 and a bit years) and then onto das-not looking forward to cbt with all the 16 year olds! Going into it with open eyes and will forget everything (i think) i know about biking so hopefully will learn some new skills from the instructors-they have all been there and done that.Already starting to get my gear together just boots and gloves left-and as luck would have it lidl has got there special this monday! (it will do until i can afford better/what i want)
So.....sorry it's been a long thread but thought i'd do a proper introduction-hope to talk to you lot soon Ta BriF |
