Default Garage can't find paint colour for the SV

I bought some second hand lower fairings for my SV a few days ago, they were the wrong colour but I bought them cheap so I thought I would get them resprayed. I took them to a body repair garage and the guy said he would spray them for me. It has been a few days since I gave him them, so I gave him a ring today and he said he was struggling to find the paint, and the paint code "990D0-17G20-YHJ" meant nothing to the paint suppliers. He will try more paint dealers tomorrow, but if he can't find anyone that sells or mixes the paint then I will have to get the paint myself and he will spray it for me.

Where would I get YHJ paint from for a blue K6? Also what type of paint is needed?

Thanks.

yhj is the important bit, halfords sells it so its not like its hard to get, the import thing is to find out if there is a base colour, like my cuvry had a silver base then the blue on top

My painter didn't have my colour either (YD8 ) but his suppler just took a sample away and came back with an exact match.

Have you got a seat cowl you could give him?

Funny you should say that, I gave him my seat cowl to match the colour, and because I don't have a pillion seat, I'm riding with an open storage compartment (empty obviously)

Thanks for all the advice.

Would this be all I need to spray 2 lower fairings? Would 400ml be enough?

Thanks.

it's cheaper to buy proper paint than aerosols!

Aerosol paint is thinned, very heavily in order to get it through the rattle can tip, the viscosity of it is appauling and doesn't last, its about as much use as a chocolate teapot!

Im a professional painter by trade any advie give us a shout and ill do all I can to help

You sound just the person I need to talk to The guy from the spray shop said he couldn't get the paint, so I have to get it myself and then he will spray it for me. When I asked what type of paint, he told me, "base coat acrylic". Idk if that's right or not. Anyway, I'm having problems finding out;

1. Which type of paint to buy
2. How many different types of paints (apparently the metallic blue needs 2 coats)
3. How much paint, in order to cover 2 lower fairings
4. Where to get it from.

If you could answer any of those question I would really appreciate it as this is driving me crazy!

Thanks
