Fixing a jacket collar?
I have a textile jacket where the Velcro collar is too tight and doesn't stick together. I "extended it" with an extra bit of Velcro but it doesn't hold.
Is there something that can be stuck on as a replacement? Both parts of a press stud, or another Velcro type thing? Something requiring no sewing.... It seems like this should exist! |

Re: Fixing a jacket collar?
Thanks
Can't sew, but also it is ballistic nylon (Furygan) so pretty tough! I thought about that popper (with tool) but still need something to stick a bit of material to the other side (ie it needs to extend as well as fix together). |

that's an idea. I have one. How to stick to jacket though?

Re: Fixing a jacket collar?
I've had success with gluing velcro with copydex glue. Both to its worn out opposite, and to leather.
Apply glue, hold together with a clamp overnight. Not sure of your exact situation, but maybe Copydex and double sided velcro will help? |

Re: Fixing a jacket collar?
make a velcro extender.
its very very easy and no sewing required. but 1/2mtr (of hook and loop parts) of the same size or slightly larger adhesive velcro as on your jacket collar. cut the velcro parts to the required length. stick the two velcro parts together to form a hook side and a loop side so its one piece of fabric. attach extender to velcro on collar between the original velcro on your collar... |

Other types available as shoe fastening extenders or similar.

Re: Fixing a jacket collar?
Those press studs/clothes rivets (second reply) are your best bet, just like the pop buttons you get on textile jackets
Easy to do |

Re: Fixing a jacket collar?
The jacket had a spare press stud (it has them on the sleeves).
I couldn't work out how to do it properly, and didn't have the tool, but I made holes in the collar and stuck one on each side utilising a hammer and superglue. Works fine so far. Cheers |
