Mines a '99, coming up for 25000 miles. I've just had to re-dress the clutch basket and centre and replace the springs, the gearbox is a bag of bolts and now the alternator and regulator have formed a union and gone on strike.
So how many miles has yours done, and how many parts have gone bang in that time? |

there was a thread about this a while ago, some very impressive mileage readings given.
it seems if looked after and well maintained the sv engine will go continously (like most engines should). |

12000 in 18 month riding, clutch replaced after 400 miles, rear pads at 11500, other than that all is well. touch wood

I've got 56K on my 03 thou and 19K on my 04 thou (it's a K3 really but late reg)
Rear wheel bearings failed on the 03 thou at 35K, chain & sprockets every 20-22K. Had to attend to the wiring for the ignition switch recently as it burnt out at the connector. Still on the original plugs. Rest is just consumables. No problems at all with the 04 except the horn. They just stopped working on both bikes. Suzuki replacement lasted 13 months. Accumen now fitted. Both bikes are returning a long term average MPG of over 55. Yes, fifty five miles per gallon. |

Clutch started to get a bit stiff at 58k or something and I replaced it with one I had laying about that had done 40k after I had filled down the basket. The plates on that one gave up about 500 miles ago and now I'm using one that's done about 24k. I'm on my third reg/rec now and one of them cooked the battery too, it went all fat and packed up. About 4k ago I changed the whole loom as the electric oddness was just getting silly with me loosing head lights and tail lights at random times. Seems fine now, even the heat grips have started responding again. Signal generator has failed on my once too, little fiddly to replace but it got done. Replaced a front rota as a seized piston bent it.. 2 Start relays have popped. 1 earth strap to the starter has broken down. And I'm just doing the valve clearances 40k to late. I gave up with one shock at 40k and replaced that 20k shock again at 60k with a ZX636 shock which is performing much better. Along with a good service and greasing of the shock linkage. Think I need some new fork springs next. She's a touch rough round the edges as she's been down the road 4 times now. Helga's her name and dirty work is her game. just coming up to 30k, on a 2000/2001 curvey.
Service history/reciepts shows shes had a few choke cables and a new zaust. The rest is all tyres sprokets and the like... |

My old SV (W reg 2000) had 46,000 on the clock before it got written of by a van.
I'd owned if from 7,500 miles and all i ever did is the oil changes at about 5Kmiles. I thought the reg/rec was fried but it turned out to be the new battery i'd bought online was a dud. Clutch, gears and angine were all A1 tho. Oh shock died at about 42,000 miles.
