Default The Joy of a new can! The pain of a puncture! Q

Hi all,

Spent about an hour putting my new fuel can on yesterday (wow) love it! only to prepare myself for a rideout and find a monster screw in the rear tyre

The screw is 55mm off centre, now leaking a bit of air. local bike shop said "sorry mate new tyre, 140 quid please". I said "Doh!, just forked out on a new can, no thanks!"

The question - I have a puncture repair kit. Should I repair it so I can commute for a few weeks? Should I get RAC to repair it? What is the worst that will happen if I ride with a repair?

Cheers

I know your pain , just had 2 damaged tyres in a month .

First was toast as was cut down to the cord by glass , however 2nd was repaired fine by using a internal plug .

have plugged loads of tyres in the past and never had a problem .

cost about 20 quid ride in/out for repair or a tenner to a loose wheel.

Good luck getting it sorted

BTW 140 quid for a rear tyre is a rip off , recently paid 105 ride in /out for Diablo strada rear

Cheers Steve

I will get a second opinion tomorrow, but if the second garage wont plug it, new tyre.

Not that I will be cornering at high speed, anyone know if a plug 55mm off centre dangerous? If so, why?
