Default Speeding ticket 48 in a 30 - what can I expect?

So just got a letter through the door informing me of a speeding ticket. Serves me right really - it was when I was gunning it through High Wycomb trying to get to Mark's funeral

Just trying to work out what I am going to get? Answers on a postcard!

When you say informing you, is it a NIP or a summons?

If the former, it should have an option to cough up, I'd expect 3 points and what, 60 quid? You'd need to be doing more like 60 in a 30 to be looking at a ban so if your licence is currently clean 3 points won't even make a dent in your insurance premium.

It was a NIP. I have a clean license so hopefully all is well.

Am gutted - cause I cleaned my number plate just before that journey!!! Moral of the story - never clean your number plate.

I was caught last year doing 78 in a 60 and i got 3 points and the 60 quid fine.
As already said if the license is spotless then it will not make a lot of difference just the code SP30 on license.

Bummer. Got radar-gunned in a 30 on the way to the funeral myself. Still crossing fingers

Best bet is to dress smart, go in and apologies and say you were in the wrong and your very sorry.

I wouldnt go in trying to explain why you were speeding, they dont like you trying to justify your speed with excuses.

As its 50% over the speed limit you would normally b e looking at 6points and £150, as its your first conviction if you do the above you may get lucky with 3 points and a perhaps higher fine.
