Help please advice needed
Hi, I have owned a sv650s K3 for about a month now .
It has done 6000 miles and has just been serviced . When I first bought the bike it seemed fine I didn't notice any strange noises ect.......UNTIL NOW! When the bike is on tick over it seems fine , if I was to be picky I would say there is a little rattle from the front of the engine .... But when I'm riding if I gently accelerate there is a very annoying metally rattle noise In every gear ,, it's not half as bad when I release the throttle but when I accelerate again the noise is always there and it sounds like it's coming from the front of the engine. I've been researching as much as I can on this and 'cam chain tensioners' seems to come up a lot?? Could somebody please help?? |

Front cylinder? Checking the CCT would be a good start. It may just need a bit of help to get to the next click or might not be applying any tension at all.
If the CCT has failed then revving the engine may cause the cam chain to jump a sprocket with resulting valve/piston damage. If you change the CCT then the K5 version is an improved design (pretty sure they fit without modification).

They're all a wee bit rattly at tickover.
As regards the noise under acceleration, this could be a CCT issue but it's worth first checking the condition of the drive chain and sprockets if you haven't already done so. Too much chain slack or hooked teeth on the front sprocket can produce a lot of rattling. |

Re: Help please advice needed
Depends a bit if the noise goes with engine speed or road speed. A small exhaust leak can sound like a rattle as the gas farts out.

"Just been serviced"
Who by and did the noise appear after the service?Id take it back and get them to have a look first.

It's as if it's really tappety, had a ride tonight and the noise is still there if I pull my clutch in .
And it was just an oil and filter change done by myself. |
