I had one fitted last summer at Buckley... i think they were maybe a bit pricier than some places but I was at Mikes and needed to get home. I was happy with the service I got but don`t let them put that gunky stuff in. I didn`t know any different and said yes much to Mikes disgust lol

You mean Steve at F & B Tyres

01270 760795

In a place called Wheelock (just outside Sandbach), he is doing DaveP a pair of Storms for £180 fitted, ride in/out. He is working late shift this week (tyres are a sideline) so can be reached on the phone in the morning. I called about some tyres for the DRZ and he is ringing me tomorrow morning, so I can ask about a rear for an SV.

FWIW I needed a new rear in a hurry last year before the NW4 ride, got local tyre place to order and fit. They were very reasonable, but could not balance the tyre as my rear does not fit the machine. (I used Dragon tyres in Ruthin). It has not been a problem up to now.

Gunky stuff? I'm guessing something along the lines of Tyre Weld?

Buckley are starting to get a tad expensive.

Yep that tyre tight anti-puncture stuff. Extra £30 on the cost for Claire!

I've got to agree that they are expensive in Buckley now. They charged £210+cost of gunk for two Storms for Claire (10 months ago), but DaveP is getting them for £180 from F&B.

They quoted me £143 for tyres for the DRZ, which I can get on the net for around £90. £53 difference pays for another rear on the DRZ!

Excuse me whilst I just pick myself up off the floor!

I've used Buckley a LOT in the past, especially when I worked in Denbigh. I think they know the answer they'd get if they asked me if I wanted gunk - so they never have!!

£30 to squirt a can in via the valve? Halfords sell it at £7.99, DIY. Even then it isn't needed IMO.

When Buckley ask me what I was quoted I always find a resonable price on the net and tell them that ..... they look in their book and say "Mmmmmm ok then" , pair of Storms fitted and balanced last year September came to £192 ..... I had a rear done a couple of weeks ago and got it for a reasonable price , but Lucky`s guy is the winner for a pair as far as I am concerned there , I just use Buckley as by the time I factor fuel into the equation of cheapness , it isn`t worth me going to Sandbach ... if they quote expensive from now on then it will be worth it when I get a Pair fitted

Not having a moan here but I`ve always found that when it comes to a lone woman walking into a garage, be it for work on a car or bike, I always tend to get ripped off. I don`t know why... they prob think "she won`t know what we`re talking about, so lets pull a fast one". It`s annoying but in my experience very true

just do what us blokes do the just say "na divint bother mate" and turn to walk away then they will ask if you have been quoted else where, then tell them the price you want to pay but dont take the pee to much and they will either match it or tell you to go away, you not lost nowt and it hasnt cost you extra!
