Bike swap dilemma!
Hi everyone.
Over the last year I have treated my 04 SV650 to new everything.... -Fairings (burnt orange) -GSXR 750 K3 front end -All balls bearings all round -SV1000 Brakes -Braided Lines -GSXR 1000 K4 Rear Shock -New leather seat covers -New reg/rec All I have left to do is mount up the speedo and paint the front wheel and the bike is 100%. Its got 18,000 miles on it, but has been far from fun owning it as the reg/rec caused me a lot of grief pushing it for 2 miles home, and then later being vandalised in the street. As I said the bike in its current state has been almost completely refurbished and looks incredible. However, I recently bought a 2015 ER6f Cat D write off, 9,000 miles and some small fairing damage for an absolute steal! With a new back tyre, both keys, all the paperwork and kawasaki manual. And now I'm not sure which to keep. One is modified to a better spec, but in my eyes is still 14 years old and therefore less reliable with smaller resale value. The other is only 2 year old and needs around £200 of parts to set back to standard. I'd be greatful of your opinions. |

Re: Bike swap dilemma!
Go for a ride and pick the one you like the most. The Suzuki R/Rs can be a weak point (it seems quite variable) but if you put an Electrex one on you'll be fine. In terms of reliability, I wouldn't worry that much. I expect they're quite different to ride though, and that's what you buy them for!

Re: Bike swap dilemma!
Having owned both a ER6 and a SV650, I still own the SV.
The ER6 is a good bike don't get me wrong, but the VTwin power is more fun to ride and if you have upgraded the suspension on the SV then it really will be miles ahead. I've ridden SV's with standard and modified suspension back to back, and the difference is night and day. My advise, as you got the ER6 at a good price tidy it up and move it on, spend the profit on the SV. |

Re: Bike swap dilemma!
Ive seen the word triumph being chucked around a lot on here lately hmmm i do miss my 675 tho haha!
That aside, i had a ER6N as a courtesy bike for a week and i didnt really get on with it, thought it was a bit low on power compared to the SV and the gearbox felt a bit clunky? Bike only done 600 from new as well! Maybe it was me i dont know? I think you'll have more fun on a nicely set up SV Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Bike swap dilemma!
Cat D write off...
No matter what you do it will always be an ex-write off and worth substantially less money than it otherwise would. Tart it up and move it on a.s.a.p. and be thankful if you manage to get your money back. |
