Default Shift-I Shift Light

Hey guys.

Thinking of adding some more bling, in the form of a shift light. Specifically this one;
http://www.ecliptech.com.au/main_win_sep06.html

From their site;
Quote:
How do I know if it will work on my vehicle?
Shift-I should work with all vehicles with a digital tacho signal, and great effort has been placed into designing sophisticated digital filters to read a wide range of tacho signals. If you have a cable driving the tacho gauge, then Shift-I is not compatible.

So my question would be is the 02 curvy SV650S tacho cable driven, or does it have a digital tacho signal?

I'll be wiring it myself (luckily dad is an electrical engineer..).

Any feedback/info as to the compatibility with my sv would be great.

Not worth doing, the power tails off before the red line on a standard or lightly modded SV650 anyway!

I had this fitted to my GSXR and it worked well.
Was reliable and quite easy to fit.

Yes it'll work but it's fairly pointless, you can feel when it's running out of breath anyway

I'm not going to criticise something for being cool but pointless, that sums up half my mods I remember seeing these on gixxer.com a while back, they're pretty nifty for what they are. But then I had a shift light on the veypor and never used it (I eventually changed it to a maximum speed light, much more useful, it flashed when I got above 97... Er, I mean 67mph)

LOL, thanks for the 'useful' feedback some of you =P I'm not arguing the merits of one, or suggesting it is at all necessary or useful. It just looks mad, in other words just more bling for my toy.

Thanks to those who tried to help though, still wondering the main (read- only) question:

It has a digital signal which signals once per revolution, i.e the SV works on wasted spark so every pulse is equal to a revolution

Ah, I thought that was covered- it's electronic, driven off the front coil if memory serves.
