Cake Makers!
Rather random I know, but does anyone know where I can get a cake that is suitable for dairy intolerant people?
It is my sisters Birthday soon and she is dairy intolerant and I think it is a real shame she can't have a cake!! I have contacted a few local cake makers all of which say they can't make cakes for dairy intolerant people. Any suggestions? Useful or otherwise!!! Thanks Kate |

Re: Cake Makers!
maybe try a health food shop? They usually have bits and bats for intolerant people, however a cake may be pushing it a bit
What about having a look about the net for a recipe and have a go yourself? what about this http://planetlactose.blogspot.com/20...ke-recipe.html |

Re: Cake Makers!
My Grandaughter is severely dairy intolerant and I've found that you can get round most foods with some thought.
I've just made her birthday cake, dairy free. I replaced milk with soya milk, butter/marg replaced with either Pure or Vitalite and just left out the eggs ( well put in a bit more baking pwder instead.) In most Supermarkets you can get free from ranges and sainsbury's do a rice based cream, so that with jam in the middle, made a very tasty cake. The candles were dairy free and I found dairy free chocolate buttons in Asda for decoration Also look at vegan sites as they don't do dairy either. good luck

Re: Cake Makers!
Well if your baking a cake you would have to replace the fats (butter) with some form of vegetable oil (it would be easy to use vegetable spread if they can eat that). Otherwise you can look at a cake which uses vegetable oil.
You will also have to have to replace the eggs with something, otherwise you will get a heavy cake. See here http://vegetarian.about.com/od/veget...substitute.htm Something like this may work: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Chocola...ke/Detail.aspx Dan |
