Default Lightened flywheel - cheap in exchange for testing...

As part of the development work I've done whilst building my SV based special...

...I've had a lightened flywheel assembly designed and machined.

Suzuki gave the SV a very heavy flywheel assembly (starter sprag clutch housing and the flywheel itself) so that it has lots of inertia - making the bike novice rider friendly as it is difficult to stall with such a heavy flywheel and reduces engine braking and rev drop when changing gear.

But this robs the bike of acceleration and masks the true V-twin character of the engine. It also causes the crank failures - twist or outright failure - that the SV is known for...

The picture below shows a flywheel assembly before, top, and after, bottom...

..and another showing the machined flywheel

The machining has removed over 1.5b of metal but does not affect strength (It's been FEA modelled by professional engineers with no loss of strength due to the machining - the lightening actually reduces the forces acting on the critical areas)

The intention is that I will start selling these, on an exchange basis, for both carbed and Fi models but I want to do a quick back-to-back dyno test and road test to measure the performance improvement first.

My SV isn't ready to be ridden yet so I'm offering someone with a carbed SV the chance of a half price lightened flywheel assembly, £65, in exchange for the loan of their bike for half a day to do to some dyno and road testing before and after the lightened flywheel is fitted.

I'm in the South East, near the Dartford Crossing and the work would be done in the Basildon area.

Please PM me if interested.

If you were testing the FI model then I'd even be willing to ride all the way from Cardiff to do this. So let me know if you have any plans for that. Also, looking forward to the results.
