Default K1 locked pillion seat

Hi,

After a long period of being off the road, I've eventually managed to get my SK1 back together, all bar the front fairing and fuel tank.

However! It had been so long since I removed the rear panels, I forgot the cable for the pillion seat attached to them and thus was disconnected from the lock during strip down.

Dumbass here didnt reconnect the cable, and literally 2 seconds after putting the pillion seat back on I remembered! D'oh!

Any tips on getting it off to fit the cable?

Thanks!

I had to do the same once with my 2000 model. Use a piece of stout wire and go fishing for the catch. If I recall I used a coat hanger and went in from the front under the passenger seat.

Good luck.

Thanks for the tip, tried with an old coat hanger but failed miserably! I found a video on YouTube showing that it can be done by removing the 2x 10mm nuts under the seat.

10mins later seat was off

I won’t do that again

Only thing holding me up now is a battery, got one before lockdown but it’s the wrong size (only discovered this when I went to put seat on!)

Looking forward to the first (off road) test ride

Not sure I like the idea of a plastic bottle of petrol sloshing around under the rear seat!

What could possibly go wrong?
