Default MV Agusta Brutale

Some of you may have noticed that I work at Lotus Cars from posts in the past - as you may or may not know, Lotus is owned by Proton Cars who just recently bought out MV Agusta, the Italian bike manufacturer. Well today I was just returning something to Lotus' vehicle workshop, I opened the door and what I saw I immediately fell in love with! One of these...

Had no idea that MV even made a naked bike, but I am telling you, this thing was pure sex on two wheels! The one I saw was totally brand new and had a red frame and some awesome brakes on it. I joined a crowd of others who were also drooling all over it!

Anyone had any experience of them? What are they like? Couldnt even find on the internet how much they cost!

I WANT ONE!!

Saw one a couple of weeks ago at a local bike meet.

It looked abso-bloody-lutely downright sexy as hell !!

It sounded like a perfectly tuned orchestra in full flow (well the Bass section anyway !!)

Saw it again again on my way home at the side of the road - I stopped to check all was ok - total electric failure, 3rd time in 2 weeks the owner told me

bike reviewed it a little while back.. rated extremly highly.... beat the tuno cause of llooks, i think it got 97% and the tuno got 95%...

i think there comments were more on the lines of "fantastic but unreliable and v expensive"

would still have one though....

Guy at work rides one. It looks nice when it's clean but he doesn't clean it and it looks very sorry indeed once it's dirty... nothing like the pristine ones you see in the shops.

The old 750 engine it used (I say old, but I think they've only just stopped or are just about to stop using this 750 engine) was given the tag "couldn't pull the **** off a chocolate mouse" in one test I read a while back. It's naked but the torque is very poor (nakeds generally being very good for torque at the expense of top end speed which isn't much use on a naked)... the new 1000 engine uses almost all the extra cc to get more low down and mid range torque and so is far more satisfying to ride, which at around £10k you'd kind of expect.

I think the naked fazer did a good rip-off job for way less money (plus the reliability will be better on the fazer) though it's even higher revving with even less low down torque. Something about that headlight shape...

Fave bit about the MV is the frame around the engine - how it bulges out as if the engine is so big it's distorted the frame...
