Default Avon Spirit ST Tyres - Review

Just posting as I tried to find a review on these and could not find one before handing over the considerable sum for a pair.
I bloody loved the Avon Storms, as widely recommended on here, so was a bit concerned they've done away with them and now have a line with a different name.

So for anyone that's interested - they're a very good tyre, get warm fast and the sides are sticky.

Tread pattern is different and I'm yet to give them a thorough test in the wet but it looks as good for water displacement as the old pattern - in fact more similar Pilot Road 2's which had a good wetputation (though I preferred the storms to them).

Have them fitted to my SV650S

I had a Spirit ST front on my SV with the Storm 3D rear, now have Storm 3D front/rear on my Tracer 900.

Under-rated and superb

I saw the storm 3D's while I was tyre shopping chris, got the impression they'd stopped with those now and any left are older stock? I did spot a few versions of storm 3d advertised ('soft' , 'medium' , 'hard' ) which was intriguing !

Worth knowing either way though as they came in much cheaper than the spirit - I struggled to find a pair of Spirits for under £200 plus fitting.

I believe they may have yeah, would probably be right in thinking the Spirit ST is the latest incarnation of that range of tyre (sport touring) If not top of the range

Without checking receipt my latest pair fitted and balanced was around £200

You have to keep adding letters after the "Storm", currently it is Avon Storm 3D X-M. I got 12500 miles on my front and only changed it because it was very close to the wear markers and my MOT was due. I have 13000 miles on my rear tyre and I estimate another 4 or 5k remaining.

Interesting!

That's partially why I was intrigued by the 'soft' marketed storms. When I first had Avon storms (1) I was getting about 4 maybe 5k from a rear, then the avon storm 2's were about 9 or 10k ...13-15k almost seems too much!
