Wheel alignment - SV650.org

I fitted the rear wheel, It's on my sv carby model and on one side of the swing arm the little alignment groves have worn, is there a safe, or, easier way to measure the wheel being in correct!!! Thanks.

I would take it to a garage, I don't know for sure but I would have thought they'd have some special laser based equipment to check/adjust it with.

Centre punch both sides of the rear axle and use a steel rule to the edge of the swingarm (not the covers)

Easiest way and makes sure the rear is centre

Apparently you can do it fairly accurate with string but i wouldnt know how to explain it as ive never tried it.
Measuring from swingarm should work ok i think.

My method is an extension of the string one.

I have two straight lengths of box section to which I have attached two lengths of threaded bar between them, this allows me to clamp them to the back wheel.

By measuring the distance between the front wheel and the box section any error in the rear wheel alignment is magnified. You want an equal measurement on either side

I seen that exact method in a motorcycle mag last year, seems a good method, providing your front wheel is running true

The mag used 2 plasterers straight edges, the tapered ones they use for flatting off browned walls.

thats handy for me being a plasterer..
centre punch sounds a good idea, quick wheel changes when racing with a good point of reference each time. thanks for all feedback.
