Default ignition button does nothing

Hello again, I have a 99' SV naked model and was involved in a small spill just last night. Right after I picked the bike back up and tried to restart the engine the ignition button did absolutely nothing. It was like I wasn't pushing nothing at all. The starter didn't turn, nothing (you got the idea). Luckily there was a downhill slope as I pulled into a shopping center and I was able to push start it with ease right after-wards. What on earth could it be.
Thanks for looking,
Budro

Well the bike runs, so it isn't the sidestand or kill switches. I'd have plumped for the clutch lever one but you say it's not that. Obviously the starter motor is isolated. Which side did the bike fall on?

yes, your right I myself am really leaning to the clutch switch as well but those wires are looped unless there is a break in the wires passed that (hmm let me go check on something real quick)
The accident was on the clutch/ left side.

Just looked at the wiring diagram:

From the side stand, the current flows to the kill switch, to the starter button, to the clutch switch, then on to the starter motor.

The side stand is fed from the fuse labelled "4" on the wiring diagram. This actually takes current from the ignition switch (key).

The fault HAS to be somewhere along that line.

HTH.
