Default What tank range should I be getting?

On my old 2000 model, I used to do a lot of mileage - 20,000+ plus miles a year, most of which was on motorways, and I used to get to just over 150 miles before the warning light would come on.

My newer SV is the same age, but does far less mileage and mostly round town, and I've also changed the sprockets (up two teeth on the rear, down one on the front), but this bike starts warning me of low fuel at less than 120 miles.

Is this about right, or is something wrong?

Town riding always gives poorer mpg as you do more accelerating.

Gearing down will make it worse as you have made the bike have to rev higher for any given speed. On my standard geared K3 I consistently get 55mpg-60mpg. Given a good thrash it drops to 50mpg. 60 mpg gives a range of about 165 miles on my bike, 140 for 50mpg.

I have a 2001s model. My best score was 175km when the light went on. Just fitted a Motrax Kilometer converter and i'm getting around 120miles but haven't pushed it to see how far it'll go yet. Think it depends on the condition of the engine and may even date back to how the bike was run in.

95% motorway, but 50% filtering in rush hour traffic. I get about 180 miles before the warning light comes on.

160 miles?! I only get about 120 miles until I HAVE to fill up. But that is from riding around in terrible traffic, constantly starting and stopping. Without traffic I can get around 150 miles, if I am lucky.

Just did my first trip to work in the car, got home at 7:45 as opposed to 7:28ish on the bike, and thats after getting all my gear on and warming the bike up a bit, so now I know why I only get about 120 miles to a tank!
