mixing oil brands
acceptable or not? I've got leftovers of different motorcycle oil brands, enough for an oil change. They're both 10W40, semi-synthetic, motorcycle oil. Is there any reason why i shouldn't combine the oils?

Re: mixing oil brands
I'm wondering the same for exactly the same reason.

Re: mixing oil brands
I've used different brands in an emergency, like yourself plenty of bits leftover, but didn't know what to do with them. Taken a few bits for my leaky bike on long journeys and got rid of it that way.
I just decided both bikes needed an oil change and had a go at Halfrouds own brand, as its cheap at 23quid for five litres..... and a free 20 quid screwdriver set, last month I personally am a bit finiky and won't be stuffing different makes in there again, now I'm down to one litre spare.

Re: mixing oil brands
25000 miles.
Normally use HG cheap stuff at £14 for 4 litres, but this time, couldn't find a reason to go all the way to preston or manchester, so bought a different brand locally for £20. Now I've got enough oil left over for another change, in approximately equal quantities. My bike doesn't use much oil so saving it for top-ups isn't really necessary.

Re: mixing oil brands
go for it. Won't make much of a difference as the engine is well bedded in and it's the right type of oil.

Re: mixing oil brands
All modern detergent oils are mix friendly, even different grades or types.
