I generally have a think about the future, and look at possible bikes to replace my SV.
I have always had a thing for the Street Triple R and the Speed Triple! Not the new Speed Triple, don't like the head lights imo!! I was having a look on the MCN website and just comparing a few figures on both of these bikes. Weather this was a mistake on their behalf I'm not to sure. So I thought I would put it to you chaps and chapesses! Speed Triple Street Triple R I was a bit baffled as the Speed Triple has a more powerful engine, higher top speed, more torque and its seems the bike is in a lower insurance category than the Street Triple R! Any ideas?!? ![]() |

Demand, desire and replacement parts... all effect the value and cost of repair/replacement.
It's not all about speed when calculating insurance groups.

More riders bin the Street?
More experienced riders buy the Speed?

Get a quote. I doubt MCN groups are that accurate anyway.
Both superb bikes |

I went from a curvy SV650S to a Street Triple R, no regrets from me!

They are not accurate I rang my insurance for a quote on a Tuono (ok it was an R) and they said it's a group 19 MCn say 16. As for the R triple it has better suspenion and brakes I believe this makes it more desirable than other non R models, the speed triple and street triple may look the same but are entirly different beasts, the street is more nimble and speed is faster. |
