Does anyone fancy a 2/3 day trip to Black Forest?
Pretty much i want to head over to some nice European roads in the summer and figured The Black Forest in Germany isn't so far that i would need more than a few days off, however i dont want to go alone for bordem/safety stakes.
So is anyone interested before i start making plans?? Ash. |

Re: Does anyone fancy a 2/3 day trip to Black Forest?
From the channel it is 400+ miles using motorways etc to the Black forest. that's 6/7 hours riding right there. So adding channel crossings you have two days of travelling to get there and back again.....
Ever considered something closer like the Ardennes or Vosges? The Ardennes are two hours from the channel, allowing more time riding good roads. |

Re: Does anyone fancy a 2/3 day trip to Black Forest?
You could do Ardennes - Vosges - Black Forest - Eifel/Ardennes and have 4 days of good continental riding, with a bit of dual carriageway work on the first and last days. Let me know when you're planning it and I may tag along for a bit.
Also if you'd like any more detailed route suggestions once you have a more definite idea of trip duration feel free to ask. |

Re: Does anyone fancy a 2/3 day trip to Black Forest?
My first plan was for 3 weeks but thats out the window now. However i am thinking of upto 10days but like this chap i would rather not do it alone. I intend to cath up with family friends in france on the way back but have a good 5 days to move down through this area and thought it possible to hook up with this chap, OR ANYONE ELSE WHO MAY FANCY IT???

Re: Does anyone fancy a 2/3 day trip to Black Forest?
I could happily spend a week doing the same roads again and again and again in the Ardennes.
As someone's said, a three day trip to the Black Forest simply isn't worth it - you're looking at a solid day's slog each way and only one day at your destination. I've got a trip to the Alps and Black Forest pencilled in for later this year but that'll be a full week, anything less is lunacy.

arcdef I'm definitely interested in seeing Europe on the bike. If you can get a plan together and some dates, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to make anything in July / Aug, except for the 25/26 july and the week leading up to it.
