Default electric bikes?

What's the deal with electric motorcycles? Are they on their way in, are they already in, will there be a take up?

hmm, im sure the org had this discussion not so long ago. http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=172942
( thanks sid)
if they are fast enough, and the battery lasts for more than 400 miles, then i'd buy one, if it were cheap enough

I don't know anything about them but I do like the idea in principle. I'm a very eco friendly gal so anything environmental I'm up for

As I understand it, at the moment weight is an issue, as is long distance travel, but for around town and low level commuting, I would be prepared to give them a go. Actually, I would love to take one for a hugely fast blast. My view, there is a new system on the way in, but I am not sure it will ever be as cheap as petrol once was! If that happens to be elec-trickery, then so be it. I would personally like to see coal fired steam bikes, they would make a nice noise and smell.

id like to see hybrid bikes e.g. petrol/electric engines
that might work, as my mpg is very poor and fuel is getting very expensive now a days

price is a big issue... A G wiz is £7k for what is essentially a rucksack on wheels... you can have 3 ford ka's for that

This has to be one of the coolest electric bikes ive seen, the designer brought it secretly to soho one night and i met him again a cpl months ago.

Not cheep though, fairly fast, good range but weight between 150-200kg. Still biggest issue is how long it takes to charge them up, for a city bike that would be no problem but at the cost they are asking it would be a hard spend. This bike has a fairly unconventional setup that makes it even more appealing.

Deathtraps on wheels they are, only good for the city.
