How F***ing Loud!!!! - Page 3 - SV650.org

I know, I live in a cul de sac. My best neighbours, the nicest folk you could meet, have a new baby. The echo from my bike was really loud. They never said a word but it was loud and I knew it.

Our ART can was loud, hit 108 on a decibel meter. Not sure what our stubby is chucking out, but it's louder than the ART.

We do give thought to our neighbours, as they are a decent bunch and will always park thoughtfully so that we can get the bike out of the house without problems. If we are going to be leaving early in the morning, we'll put the Akra back on, as it's much quieter.

Just fitted my Micron system and it sound similer to when you have stock pipework and no can, it gurgles lots and pops majorly on the overrun. It could be because there is a little air leak on the front cylinder though.

My nieghbours have complained about the noise from the CCCs on my bike has on their 3 year old.

Every time he hears it, he starts screaming. "I want to see Tims Bike"

His uncle has a ZX6 with a blue flame, that doesn't disturb the little mite. so boring he can't be bothered to get out of bed.

Had a Scorpion open pipe on my SV650 for 2 years and very loud cans on my Falco since February (130db).

Never had any problems with the plod, no complaints from neighbours and I must admit that I believe they have saved my life.

Why?

1)When i ride a bike I don't ride it to show off, but enjoy the sound of the engine for what it is: a lovely fast-revving V-twin.

2)Loud cans are not offensive if used properly, i.e. keeping the revs down when in town or starting up at 6 in the morning.

3)In town pedestrian will notice you when you are approaching from a distance and will not cross the road in front of you like kamikaze lemmings.

4)On fast roads, cars will hear you approaching and are less likely to pull out in front of you while filtering or while you overtake them.

5)The SV sounds lovely with open cans

Ive just bought a ccc off ebay and cant wait to hear it i hope it sounds as good as im dreaming it will....

Rubbish. Even a car left ticking over to warm up on the next driveway can be very annoying when trying to get that last hours sleep in the morning.

If that's the case why is so difficult to immediately ascetain the direction of a sirene in traffic in a built up area and pedestrians and vehicles still get in their way.

4)On fast roads, cars will hear you approaching and are less likely to pull out in front of you while filtering or while you overtake them.

Again rubbish, On Sunday I saw a bike in my car mirror filtering on the M25 but didn't hear his loud exhaust until he was alongside my car.

That's probably because it was an IL4

I've lost count of the number of pedestrians that have jumped to safety when I've given a big burst of throttle while filtering through traffic in the West End — and I'm talking about those that have simply paid no heed to where they're walking or looking, not from me going banzai. No time to find and fiddle with the horn button, the throttle's already in my grasp. Had I not done this this, both I and several of these jay-walkers might have found themselves in hospital.

Loud cans do save lives.
