Re: Stator test with low voltage output
Stator is fine, r/rs sometimes just die though, esp the Suzuki ones

Re: Stator test with low voltage output
yes but I would expect a new mosfet one to last longer than a year!

Re: Stator test with low voltage output
I haven't moved the r/r, is there a better place to put it? I know it's not getting the cooling it needs, but it was a mosfet one, so I was hoping it wouldn't get so hot and need it. I had jump-started the battery a few times as it wasn't charging...the problem already existed though, so I didn't fry the r/r anymore than it already was.

Re: Stator test with low voltage output
yes I believe mosfet should generate a lot less heat as they dont have to dump all the excess energy like the originals. In fact, thinking about it, a flat battery is actually good for the original style RRs cos the power is being used to charge the battery rather than being dissapated as heat!

Re: Stator test with low voltage output
Oh well...it's not raining, so I can get the bike back together and take it out for a spin. I'm putting on a voltage display to the side of my dash in the black plastic, just to keep an eye on it. Lucky my ex-husband left his gixxer here, (he hasn't ridden it for 6 years, what a waste) eh?

Re: Stator test with low voltage output
I bought it from M & P, so I would expect a decent quality one for the price. Can't remember the make of it now though. I have been offered a refund or an exchange, but the DC lead has been cut off to swap with the gixxer one that works. Do you reckon they'll still give me a refund?
