What’s it worth? - SV650.org

Hi everyone, been awhile!

Friend of mine is selling his K8 SV650, it’s in reasonable condition, not mint,
but generally ok.
Needs a bit of work, (front wheel bearing, rear shock, swing-arm bearings),

It’s done 24k.

Thinking of buying it for a run-around.

What do you think it’s value is?

Id be asking why there is so much wrong wityh the running gear after only 24k. Has it spent its life parked in a pond?If so what else is knackered? Its a ten plus year old banger and worth about £400 IMO.

I think it’s just been used/abused.

Trouble is, some people have a tendency to pressure wash bikes, which as we all know, doesn’t do them much good!
Which is a possibility with this bike.

I'd be looking at one of the many others around that are in more reliably decent condition.

Yeah, I mean I’m not after one to “do-up” like my last 2, just after a bike to ride so I don’t get the “motorcycle emptiness”.

I’ll be looking at a new Trumpet next year, so it really is a gap filler.

As someone said in a similar thread a few weeks ago (and I daresay has been said before that) do an eBay completed listings Search.

As they are hardly a rare bike, plenty enough change hands regularly on there to give a good idea of value.

Just had a quick look myself and £400 probably a reasonable estimate. I think the market was a bit stronger when I looked earlier in the year, but it's a buyer's market for any bike by October.

Perhaps more to the point, if you fancy a cheap SV it will also give you a good idea of what else is out there - some perfectly useable looking bikes around the £700 mark.
