The 2009 Thundersprint May 9th and 10th Northwich

Anyone planning on going?

The pretty Cheshire market town of Northwich is not the most likely location for a motorcycling event but it actually hosts one of the biggest and most diverse events in the country - the Thundersprint.
This festival of bikes is based around classic motorcycle racing but mixes in modern Superbikes, TV biking celebs, a mile of trade stands and even an aerobatic display by a Spitfire. The best part for the public is that the whole event is free including parking and grandstand seating.
Kicking the proceedings off on Saturday, May 9th, is the Thundersprint Bike Show, which is held next to the Memorial Hall. During the evening Yamaha’s MotoGP star James Toseland will be in concert with his band Crash.
Sunday, May 10th, is the big day. The town centre is closed and a twisty sprint track between the Sainsbury’s and Mark and Spencer stores is built. The track is thrilling for the spectators and equally fun for the riders who make up a good entry from all over Europe.
The classic racers also have support from the modern stars like Toseland, the HM Plant Honda British Superbike team and the MSS Kawasaki factory team. Due to the nature of the track spectators can get close to the action.
Aside from the racing there is entertainment for children with a funfair, simulator ride and inflatables. There is a day's entertainment in the arts centre alone, with not a biking theme in sight. There is no restricted access for spectators other than the sprint track but it pays to get there early because large crowds are anticipated.

The main race day is Sunday and a few from the Border Patrol will be over there. I might make it if the weather is not suitable for DIY....

Me and BBC will probably be there tomorrow sometime, and possibly on the sunday. We are driving up this evening to her Brothers in Northwich...oh the joy of that!..the drive that is, not seeing her brother/family

Went today with Gene genie,was really busy plenty happening enjoyed it.
But most of all on the Ducati stand was a very very pretty lady with leggings on,
flipping hell they look like they was painted on!!!

Fantastic day! much better (and a whole lot busier!) than I expected.
