BTW i'm thinking you are referring to rictus01 as mr angry? well if you are then mr angry has more biking and mechanical knowledge than most on this forum. he is trying to help and if i were you i would listen to him. your choice though.

don't take it to heart. we are here to help.

the forum has a vaaasssttt amount of knowledgeable people relating to the SV650/1000. asking questions is the only way some people have of fixing a problem that the usual bike mechanics cant trace or just want to save save money.

the biggest problem people have is not being there to actually see/hear how the bike is running which is one of the best ways to trace a problem.

Just to let you all know my bike is close to going back on the road again.
Turns out the front cam chain tensioner had seized then started to break up.
(so I am told by the mechanic who has my bike)
The chain tried to skip off but am told the chain guide stopped it comming off thus causing valve damage etc etc. He checked it all out and no bent valves,so he then ordered a new tensioner, fitted it , changed oil and filter and now the bike runs and sounds better than ever.
Only problem now is he tells me the battery isnt getting a good enough charge, looks like the reg /rec has failed.

Glad to hear that the issues are less major than feared. Reg/rec is not a major issue to change so hopefully not too expensive
