Our soil has not been given enough care and attention for a long time, too much artificial fertilizers and not enough humus has depleted its ability to lock up carbon. They are saying now that grass is a more secure carbon store than trees because grass stores carbon in its roots, which do not get burned like tree branches wildfires.
