Default Belly Pan vs Fender Extender (sorry for stupidity)

Hi i'm relatively new to the whole bike thing, i don't know much about it and i'm picking things up all the time.
When i get my bike delivered (sv650s 2000) in the next couple of weeks i am going to start making changes asap.
Firstly i want protection, then looks.

I really want a belly pan, but will this do as much good as a fender extender when it comes to protecting the engine from dirt and other things?

I know the FE isn't that expensive but i will be doing things one at a time and don't plan on building a workshop to take on the workload.
Any help appreciated. Thanks

go for the fenda. Saves the front spark plug from problems and protects the engine from front wheel fling. With the cheapest (and nastiest) pan being £86 you can buy the £20 fenda and use the change on crash bungs which will save you money in the long run.

And then go for a hugger before a bellypan.

yep. Look at http://www.simpson-detour.co.uk/product_list.asp

I got my hugger from them at the bike show. Was good, and the extenda can be got from anywhere. Crash bungs are motosliders which if you search on here you should find.

Thanks very much

One very last question! My bike is dark blue (as on my profile) but every fairing or whatever that i seem to find is only available in black white yellow or carbon. Is blue unpopular? And is spraying as easy as it doesn't sound? () that's the only thing that's worrrying me.

personally i wouldn't bother with a bellypan. Hugger is more important and R+G's.
