Lowering links, anyone fitted them?
Thinking of maybe fitting these to my bike, -25mm.
My question is, how would it affect the bike when its on its sidestand? would the bike be too upright? Thanks |

You may have to shorten the sidestand, which can be a PITA. Fit them and find out really.

Re: Lowering links, anyone fitted them?
It makes the bike situp right on the side stand, which can mean its a bit unstable, my others halfs K5 has been lowered and its rolled off the stand a couple of times and I'm convinced its because of this.
Personally, if you can cope with the bike like it is, I'd leave it alone, how tall are you ?

How would i go about that? whats it made of? is it a case of grinding it down, or cutting and welding?

Re: Lowering links, anyone fitted them?
You could probably grind down part of the pivot, so it will point forward more. Or chop it in half and weld it back together.

Oh and if you're dropping the back, IMHO you might want to think about dropping the forks a little to.

Re: Lowering links, anyone fitted them?
Thanks guys. Its not a problem with my height, im 5'9".
The idea behind it, is to fit the clip-ons above the top yoke, instead of below to alleviate wrist ache. I would want to lower the back to keep the bike balanced. |

Re: Lowering links, anyone fitted them?
I'm not a suspension expert, but I'd be inclined to leave the rear height alone. Liz's bike thats been lowered handles differently than my SV did that was standard.
If you're getting wrist ache, try unbolting the clutch and brake levers and then rotating them around the bars so that theres an imaginary straight line from your elbow through your wrist to your finger tips, also try gripping the tank more with your knees. I'd try that first before I started messing about with clipons and suspension geometry..

Re: Lowering links, anyone fitted them?
You do not need to lower the bike, it will handle fine with the front height dropped, it takes a lot to make the curvy one unstable. However make sure there is clearance. I'm not sure how much you can get away with dropping the yokes down.
