I have a Curvy, but a Pointy is tempting me.
I bought my 1999 Curvy last year and I have been riding it since I passed my test in May. It currently has 27k on it (I know it will last for a fair bit yet), and although clean, it isn't immaculate, although I never bought it to be 'pretty'.
I use my bike to commute, so something 'faster' doesn't really appeal to me just yet and I am really enjoying my Curvy. Any move away from my current bike would just be for something similar, but newer and less miles. I spotted the below pointy on eBay and I really like it, although I think the price may be a little high (compared to one or two I have seen). http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Suzuki-SV650S-...item2a0f2dbac0 Now, I don't expect it to be majorly cheap, but I have seen a few 2006 and 2007 plate bikes for les/the same price. It's not too far from the price of some 2008 plate bikes. I suppose the question I am asking is "Does anyone have an opinion on how much I should try to get nocked off?" I may try trading in my Curvy, but my friend wants to buy that, so not sure yet. The below bike seems a good price, but is a little far from me. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUZUKI-SV-650S...item4cf6148850 Last edited by Scott S; 25-03-11 at 08:36 PM. |

as a curvy owner mate i like the pointy also -if your changing because you prefer the looks of a pointy can't blame you, the ride is gonna be very very similar to what you've got at the moment .the red pointys are really nice but i'd say that the 2005 bike is over priced by about 500 quid.

Re: I have a Curvy, but a Pointy is tempting me.
I am happy to stick with a SV and I know exactly what I will be in for with the red Pointy as it will be so similar to my current bike, but the low mileage, age, and looks are appealing.
I will go down tomorrow armed with my research on prices and the info from all replies in here to see what they say. |

Begone with you blasphemer, unless you're going to buy a Sv1000

Do it and try to put the past behind you..
I never regretted my pointy after the curvy. |

Re: I have a Curvy, but a Pointy is tempting me.
I went to see the red pointy today and the seller wouldn't shift on the price.
The description of "immaculate" wasn't (IMO) a true reflection. There were loads of scratch marks from washing/polishing. The rest was clean, but it would ahve taken a lot to get the paint work right. |

Re: I have a Curvy, but a Pointy is tempting me.
A very common dilemma, 100% of curvy owners feel this way but unfortunately an unhealthy proportion suppress their urges. They often talk of the curvy's being better or even faster, this state of mind is known as a full blown case of the gheys.
And that bike's pretty over priced - have you been through the forum's for sale bit? oh and as well as looks I found the bike a much nicer ride than the curvy, liked the ride position, induction snort and it seemed a lot more responsive (my naked curvy never seemed to offer itself up to a wheelie from just the power)
