R6 twist grip. Again and again and again....
Hi folks,
Getting the bike ready for summer and was wondering about this. I'm replacing the throttle cables anywayn is it just a case of buying a throttle body and swapping it out? Any particular year of R6 go best for the curvy sv? Any advice appreciated, thanks! |

Re: R6 throttle body upgrade
Its the actual tube you want, to save any confusion, order this part from Yamaha 5SL-26240-00-00

I assume from your knowledge you've done this to your bike, is it really just the tube I need? No other bits and bobs at all? |

Re: R6 throttle body upgrade
I know there's a thread somewhere here about this mod but I just can't find it. I've been asking the local Yamaha dealer about this part but he hasn't replied yet. I've just sent another email right now to check on price. I was told the grips are slightly thicker than SV's which suits me fine. You might want to take this into consideration if you've got small hands.

Re: R6 throttle body upgrade
Yep the part number I gave is the only part you NEED for the mod on a curvy Then just adjust the cables accordingly ...
You will be adjusting the cables correctly anyway as you are fitting new ones! If you like you can fit the matching LH grip as mentioned, but to be fair there is nothing wrong with the Yammy one I took mine off anyway as I was fitting heated grips |

Re: R6 throttle body upgrade
Thanks for the left hand grip number Ned. So are you happy with the mod. Worth doing or what?

Re: R6 throttle body upgrade
Is the bike more prone to jerkyness now? You have better hand to throttle response I guess? Sometimes a full hand twist is not enough to open full throttle on stock, this mod solves this right?

Re: R6 throttle body upgrade
I think this is a small but worthwhile improvement. It won't set your world on fire but it will save your wrist a little.
