Electric cars - charging
If I had an electric car (I don't), would I have to pay to charge it at those public car charging points? Presumably so how does one get billed?

Re: Electric cars - charging
Sounds to me like you either pay per charge or join a group and get a charging card that you pay for either monthly or annually. I've just had a quick google and it's not at all clear.

Re: Electric cars - charging
I have been thinking the same thing, there are loads of charging points here in MK and I think you can park there for free as well, I've had a look at the charging point and there is no indication of cost there.
An EV would be ideal for me as I don't often go more than 20 miles, that and I really want one of those Tesslas.

I want an electric bike. Not as a replacement, just for fun.

Re: Electric cars - charging
You get a card.
You use it to open a charge point and it's how they know to bill you. Some fast charge points [nissan owners ]get it free. But as it's about £2.50 p per80 % charge from empty it's not like mega give away. Standard charge post do 3/4 kw. Some rare ones do 6kw

Electric cars - charging
We run some at work. Tesla superchargers are free, but only work with Tesla cars. This is the normal Tesla deal.
We also run some Polar Chargemaster points. Polar stations can be free to use and often are, especially if placed in paid for car parking. Ours cost £1.70 per hour which is not unusual if in a non paid for parking area. |
