15,000 miles and slight humming/clicking noise

could this be the front wheel bearing? How long do wheel bearings last and do i need any special tools to remove them.

I popped the bike into neutral and switched the engine off and rolled down a hill and i could still hear the noise.

some last for ever,my b6 has got 50k+ on the clock still on the original bearings,others give up earlier,as to replaceing them,knock them out with a long punch, and replace them useing a large socket so as you are only pushing the bearing on the outside case,also check your chain for the clicking noice and the speedo drive if it is on the front axle

It sounds like your chain and sprockets to me. Take the cover off the front sprocket and have a look I'll take a guess that the sprockets nicely hooked and the noise is the chain as it comes off it...

If it was me renewing the chain and sprockets I'd change the gearing slight (46 tooth rear) but it depends on the type of riding you do. I've never been one for sedate bimbles.

water pump, cam chain tensioner?
