Something cheap, reliable and fun?
Can anyone think of something that fits the bill as my sv is now sold.
Needs to be quite cheap though unless something drastic happens, like a lottery win etc. I'm not keen on naked bike, although would consider a streetfighter type bike, also like supermoto style bikes, but lack of budget might dictate otherwise. Must be able to commute like my beautiful SV does - 13 miles each way, all weathers and mainly traffic. Any ideas would be great. |

Re: Something cheap, reliable and fun?
For 13 miles I'd get nothing bigger than a 500. You got another bike in the pipeline?

Re: Something cheap, reliable and fun?
If you want cheap and not really old its going to be naked really - something like an ER-5 or CB500 - what about an old steely framed CBR600?

plus, the engine is absolutely bullet proof, simple to work on with sensible service intervals, and if you drop it you can pick it up and keep going (fit axle sliders and proper metal handguards, no plastic crap ,and you won't have to replace anything) as for price it depends on how cheap is cheap...

Re: Something cheap, reliable and fun?
For a road based bike things like the older 600's (supersport and naked) and the 500's are good, couriers use them and love them.

Re: Something cheap, reliable and fun?
Older SS 600's what sort of thing should I look for, I really don't want a GS500 type thing although budget may dictate this is exacly what I get.
Don't want it to be a money pit either! |
