Default Blood out of a stone

the failure of regulator/rectifier on my sv650x ,99 caused the demise of the ecu, battery, speedo/tachometer and cost me dearly in getting home with bike, inspection by bike shop and purchase of parts to put right. has anyone had a similar fault as i am trying it on with suzuki to get some help with the clocks. would any orgers who have had similar problem please pm me. this is for evidence that a protection design fault exists and the regulator/rectifier is a time bomb, thanks, bg.

So how did all the other stuff get damaged? Too high voltage?

you dont know if you dont try, good luck.

I had a reg/rec issue but also had a fair few chaffed wires touching the frame at the same time so i guess my story s useless to you. And also that bike has since been written off so no evidence to show.

i,ve already contacted suzuki, negative reply cause of age, my arguament is bike has 12000 miles for 10 years old. suzukis in warranty period may have covered more than that. better protection for other major comps should be in place. buying new parts to fix and labour could be over a grand

good argument but you know they will only counter it with "other components" and age. Still as i said above, nothing ventured - nothing gained.

chain of events... reulator packs up...takes out ecu...battery...clocks...bulbs, fuse to clocks did not blow, just feel that a designer could build in better protection that works
