Default Help working out a wage

Could someone work out for me how much is needed to be earned to come out with £1200 a month after tax with no other deductions than those which we have no choice but to pay?

20k per annum = £1282.43 pcm after tax & NI

EDIT £1244.93 if you are repaying a student loan as well.

Depends on your tax code and you might be receiving other "benefits", e.g. phone, company car, mileage allowance, etc.

Sounds like "about £19k" given the examples above, but this might be a bit more accurate if you want to take your personal circumstances into account.

Agreed, it would differ depending on tax code etc.

I used this to get the figures above based on my circumstances (hence why I mentioned Student Loans).

Looks the same as the site Jabba found but you don't have to know your tax code.

Smile Re: Help working out a wage

Hi rob13

I had do a similar calculation myself recently as I needed the same amount per month to cover the costs of rent etc. Got offered a few different jobs but in the end had to go with the one that offered at least £16,350.

At £16,350 per year you'll end up with a take home wage of £1,200 each month. If you need to work it yourself or find yourself in a similar situation I'd use this:

http://www.income-tax.co.uk/calculator/16350

Hope that's helped, I had to try and survive on that wage in London, it certainly wasn't easy! Hopefully you're not living in London?!
