oversized front tire...
the normal size of the SV front tire is 120/60/17
would there be a problem if I put a 120/70/17 tire on apart from throwing the speedo out ? not done it yet just getting a few thoughts first....

Re: oversized front tire...
It doesn't throw the speedo out, it makes it closer to true.
Other than that not a huge difference, turn in is a little bit quicker. No particular problems though. Maybe more peddles and stuff catching mudguard when tyre picks them up?

Re: oversized front tire...
I run a front 120/70/17.
Can be a bit tucky with a fender extender, but mine is fine. Made the speedo slightly more accurate, used to read 80mph at 6K revs, now around 77mph. On the autoban of course |

Re: oversized front tire...
Didn't someone post on here a few days ago that this could affect insurance? Just a thought & insurance companies don't see that refusing to pay a claim is anything to do with the actual affect of the modification made.

Re: oversized front tire...
Stick a 120/70 on there... raise the mudguard up a little... if you have a fender extender don't worry about the stones...
You'll have more grip, IF the bike still feels "wierd" after a while, drop the front end through the forks by like, I think it's 11 or 12mm which keeps the rake the same.. I've heard people not noticing a difference though. |

Re: oversized front tire...
I'd be interested to know if it's an improvement. Keep us updated if you go for it richie.
Just don't run down too many cyclists then
