Default TomTom Rider 2nd Edition opinions?

Does anyone have one of these?

I know this sounds stupid... but can you charge the unit via the usb?

Reason being, I bought a faulty one from ebay. Had it plugged in all day at work in the usb slot and my computer... nothing, wont power up.

Get home, do a little more research and find that the road hole in the middle seems to be the charging point, so find my old psp charger upstairs with the same plug on the end, plug it in and voila! It turns on and begins charging!

Bit annoying as today I ordered a new battery today from MDS, but nevermind.

Also, does anyone have a spare charging lead for the bike mount that they dont need...? The one that is hard wired to the battery.

Thanks chaps and chapesses!

Just tried mine and it charges up by the contacts at the back of the unit and by the round hole but not by the USB.

Yea, makes sense! Cant believe I won this for £80! This was his advert..

Tomtom Rider 2nd Edition Navigator/GPS System With Mount And Charger

The Tomtom has been sitting at home for months and used to work fine but tried to turn it on and it wont power up now could be an easy repair. The Tomtom is still in excellent cosmetic condition as you can see from picture. I no longer have use for it so someone could grab themselves a bargain.

Serial Number: K21357M00935

Payment Options:

Paypal
Cash Collection From Central London
Postal Order
Bank Transfer
Cheque

Happy Bidding!

Only thing is, the charger he sent me is a car charger with a usb end... Its obvious that this is the wrong charging lead and he has been trying to charge the unit this way.

I just need to find a bike charging lead to fit the mount he sent me...

Seggons, is the mount you have just one piece? One end holds the satnav and the other opens up and clamps on to the bike? The mount looks strange to me as if something is missing. Looks as though I should have another piece that clamps to the bike with a ball joint on it and then the clamp, clamps on to the ball....?

Should be the charging cradle that has the feed from the battery plugged into it

There's some contacts on the cradle that charge the Tom Tom on the go once you've put the TomTom in the cradle

Sounds like you haven't got the cradle or the TomTom mains charger either

I just nipped outside and grabbed a picture of the part your missing.

I've had my TomTom for a couple of years now and I think on two occasions it has seemed like it had died and not turn on at all. But plugging it into a power source while pressing the reset button with a pin and then turning it on soon fixed it.

I also need to get a charging dock and lead from the battery. Yet to see how much TomTom charge. Let me know where and at what price you get yours from.

If you don't have the U-bracket you could use longer bolts and connect it to the right brake/reservoir.
