Curvy won't start after choke cable work.
Hi Guys n Gals
I just removed the choke cable on my 2000 sv 650 curvy from the handle bar section and sprayed some wd40 down it, then sprayed some wd40 where the cable splits into two and then some more wd40 where the cable goes into the carbs. Now after reassembling the bike wont start. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. |

Connector on the clutch switch has been dislodged.

Had a look, the connectors in place. Its swings but wont start. After a couple of tries it seems to be dying off?

This is really doing my head in and theres d#+n intermittent rain. Now the bike doesnt even swing. It just ticks like the battery is gone. Before I started with the cable the battery was fine. Now its dead. Go figure.

Re: Curvy won't start after choke cable work.
Start with charging the battery. Whilst its charging, check that operating the choke has the desired effect at the carb end.
If the operation is as expected then I suspect spraying wd40 around the choke plungers has stopped them doing their job. Its not easy to get these out due to Suzuki's use of cheese based screw heads. Good luck. No doubt somebody who knows what they are talking about will be along to offer additional advice.

Cheers Grant66. My mate came over with a battery charger and spare battery. Got the bike to start. Idles fine, however when I switch it off It doesnt start again. So battery is on a charger now and will try again in the morning. Still a bit confused though as the battery was great before I started with the choke cable lubrication.

Re: Curvy won't start after choke cable work.
Update: Ok, installed battery and she fired up on the turn so battery all good. Choke feels smoother and allows easier setting when in use. Bike also feels a bit smoother on idle and acceleration, now I hope that has helped with excessive fuel use.
