Default New Drivers Act

I have had a search here but couldnt find anything specific.
While out last night some ppl were telling me I'd need to be extra careful for the first 2 years as I have now become a 'new driver'.
Apparently because I have just passed my bike test I am subject to being banned if I tot up 6 points. This also applies to any offences committed in the car as well.

Now i had a look at the dsa webby:
http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Motoring...ers/DG_4022566

"Your driving licence is automatically revoked if you build up six or more penalty points within two years of passing your first driving test. This includes any penalty points you had before passing the test, which are still valid. You?ll have to reapply for your driving licence as a learner driver and resit your driving test."

Now obviously its not my first test as I passed my first test long ago.

Can anyone clarify?
It's going to take the shine off things worrying about 6 points

This does not affect you as you already have held a licence for over 2 years. It is from your FIRST test pass.

Stop being pedantic, you know full well the CBT is classified as training.

It starts from the very date you passed your first test, whether car or bike, i.e. when you no longer held a provisional. There is a lot of confusion as some people seem to think that it runs from the day that they hand in there provisional for a full entitlement, it does not, its begins on the date you passed the test.

Example for you;

Passed your first test 28/02/2006 - 2 years runs out 28/02/2008

This set up only applies to your first test from provisional, so for the above example if you later passed a bike test lets say in 2007 the two year rule will still expire on 28/02/2008.

People coming back from bans are also getting confused. If you have been banned and have just served you bans time you will be issued with a provisional licence and have to take another test, the two year setup will also be reinstated. Its not a first ever, just a first from provisional.

PS. This has been around for a long time now!

I've also checked this with the police (who rang the DVLA to double check!) and it's from your FIRST license.

Thanks for the answers, makes me feel a little less nervous about any careless indiscretions
