OIL cap. need advice...
Out on a run up to the green welly from dundee via coupar angus but by the time i got to perth i was covered in oil, wondered why the bike was slipping and slideing out of corners, (Thats one of my lives gone now, used to be a cat) the guy behind me got a splattering at the tullybackart twisties, managed to limp to Drysdale Motorcycles where i was able to clean up get another oil cap (off a stock bike) and oil, £13.55 later and some wipes and we were off again,.
So a big thank you to Drysdale M/C of Perth. Now my question is has anyone had this problem with the oil cap loosening off. The bike is a 2004 SV650s and the cap, last time i checked was tight. Or am i right in saying that it was loosened off by someone. The Girlfriend has an SV as well and has had the same problem but the first time it happened we found out that one of our mates loosened it as a joke (a non-biker) and may have forgot to tighten it up. Any ideas. Cheers in advance.. |

You can get anti-tamper caps that can only be opened with an allen key.

This happened to me once as well. Didn't come right off but wasn't far off. Probably kids.

Someone nicked mine while it was parked at work earlier this year. Git.
Does your cap have an o-ring in it? If the o-ring is missing it will seal less well and may come loose during riding. If the o-ring is still in there there's no way it would come loose unless someone was messing with it |
