Routes
Right,
To get you started, I have planned a "warm up" (or should than be "warn off") route to welcome you the Alsace roads. Not too far, about 120/150Km, a nice ride for the first morning which returns you to Colmar. http://www.cyfc.co.uk/eurotour04/routes/route1.jpg There will be more to follow . |

New Route....
For those of you with some experience (and the energy) I have worked out a route via Laussanne, through Italy, by way of Aoste, around Turin, down to Nice (overnight stop), coming back via Cannes, up the N85 to Grenoble and making our way back to Besancon.
http://www.cyfc.co.uk/eurotour04/routes.htm#route2 770 miles round trip. Not for the faint hearted, and it's a bit ambitious. . |

Those roads are cracking, from what Ive seen on skiing trips. Amazing countryside too. They'll hone me up if Im not sorted by then.

I've also driven & riden the N85 to / from Nice / Grenoble and it's a stoater! Down side is that the surface is (was 2 years ago) patchy in places. The hairpins out of Nice are amazing. The section from Gap to Grenoble is not that impressive (except the climb out of Gap!), maybe you could head up to Embrun / Briancon then over the Col du Lauterette to Genoble? a few extra miles but a much better trip. |
