Default New to the forum: exhaust gone quiet(er)??

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum. I've been the proud owner of a K8 S for about 9 months now, with no major issues.

A few months ago I had Laser's Xtreme 2-2 exhaust system fitted (regrettably as looking back I feel i could have done it myself), which has been fantastic asthetically, sound wise and bumped the performance a little. I've noticed recently the volume has 'dropped' when the engine is running idle. Giving a nice squeeze and its okay.. yet more 'baffled' than 'baffles out' if you catch my drift. (Baffles are out normally which is a bit cheeky).

Few points:
  • I wear earplugs thus (hopefully) im not going deaf
  • A few collegues at work have agreed its going soft (im really hoping my paranoia is just rubbing off on them)
  • I've checked all the exhaust' seals around the engine and piping and it seems airtight
  • The engine itself sounds like its ticking over as normal and is at approx 1300rpm
The only thing i've done recently is topped up the engine oil with 10W 40 partly synthetic goo. I have noticed some air bubbles upon inspection but cannot tie that to my initial problem.... any chance its the air filter or something like that?

Sorry for keeping my terminology basic. Hope you guys can help me out?

Ta

i've always been under the impression that pipes generally get quiter/more muted as carbon deposits from the exhaust fumes coats them internally, especially stainless steel. i've always found that the metalic rasp sort of noise dissapears from new systems on cars at least, after a short while.
dont really have any experience with bike exhausts as mines standard and old but it should do the same thing i'd of thought

Take them off and put a dry toilet brush down the middle to clean off some of the carbon deposit.
