ZXR400 Rev counter wiring anyone??
Hi, I am converting me road bike into a track bike and just about finished. I have bought a zxr400 set of clocks and want to use the Rev counter on me bike. I understand you require a live, ground and coil signal. I have tried using the coloured cables that would normally go into the rear of the SV clocks. I have tried using the orange (positive), black/yellow (coil?) and black/white (Earth?? 2 cables)?
Anyone know if this is correct? I have a multimeter, what would be the easiest way to check each cable is correct. I have created an album with a few photos of the conversion if they can be accessed Cheers Leigh Last edited by Toonleigh09; 12-08-20 at 08:53 PM. |

Sorry think I have sussed it, should have checked the wiring diagram first. Shouldn’t be orange it should have been red. Will try tomorrow,

Can't help with the wiring, but just want to ask... Why use a ZXR400 rev counter, whats wrong with using the stock SV one?

Unfortunately just too big to fit inside the race fairings. I also asked a similar question to someone else before trying and they also said they didn’t want to see how fast they were going

Re: ZXR400 Rev counter wiring anyone??
Not sure if this is a problem or it helps but ... I had a scitsu rev counter for my BSA single race bike a while back and couldn't get it to work properly, turned out it was because it was calibrated for a twin... not a single! So didn't pick up the pulses as it should have done. As said ... not sure if this might have something to do with your problem being a 4 cylinder tacho on a twin!?
