My wheels arrived today, front spins really smooothly. I like the 30mm rim depth. I had some 50mm RS80's and they were dangerous in side winds, the 30mm's don't have the same issue, as I've got some Halo Road disc wheels which spin up nicely, but don't get affected by side winds. Plus I was never fast enough to get the 50mm's up to the sweet spot, whereas the 30mm's are easier to get to their sweet spot. Or so it seems.

Cycle show was a bit of a disapointment, not much to buy & less English builders there. No Condor stand, and no Colnago stand (unless I missed them).

Nicest bike there was the Dassi http://dassi.com/

Met Keith_D as he'd gone to the Dive show, which was in the same hall.

Yes, its very 1990's

Much check the Rules I'm sure it says it must match the saddle colour

Although I'd go for good old black (red might match the wheels mind)

Indeed. Even the stuff on the Enigma stand didn't float my boat, like that did.

Just footering with it I can feel how light the groupset is.

Now the dilemma do I give it a try tomorrow or wait for decent weather?
Want! Want new bike, want ultegra, just take my money!

Thanks for that. It's a hard task finding 20/24 spoke rims in a polished silver finish... I just ordered a few sets of Arc22, Arc31 and Elite30 rims for a couple of lugged steelies...

Nah! Leave the wheels out in the sun for a few days & they'll soon fade to the colour of the tape

I'd hope not... but then again, I've had my share of MTB bits (mostly bars, stems and posts) turn green.

It's been a good day. This afternoon I got a couple of sets of Columbus Max forks assembled in the jigs. Tomorrow I'll do the brazing, then I'll clean and finish them at my leisure during the week.
The forks are for a his and hers set of frames that came out of the jigs earlier in the week. They're built with Columbus tubing and Llewellyn 6 degree lug sets to pull a light touring trailer with the hitch integrated into the rear drops. Both will have bright silver Campy Athena 11X3 groups which always looks a treat on steel frames in just about any colour that isn't too dark.

The frames are similar to this:

I also did a bit of shopping tonight for lugs, BB shells, crowns, tubing, ends and other materials for another eight frames. Frame building is a fun and not overly expensive hobby to keep me from mischief.
