Default Picture the scene, if you will...

Northwind has found his rivet gun, and decides to finally turn the "Not for road use" strap on his race can over, since it's not on the bike just now. He sets about the rivets with a chisel, easy. Pokes the remans through with a punch, all as planned. But wait! he has to get the end cap off to get rid of the stubs of the rivets! It won't come off by hand, so Northwind gets a broom handle, sticks it through the can, and whacks it off the ground many many times until the endcap/pipe comes off. Lovely.

Coincidentally, Northwind has embedded a broom handle in his exhaust pipe.

All sorted now, thank ****, but that was easily the most frustrating thing I've done in years. I ended up having to get a blowtorch and fire it up the pipe until the wood scorced and loosed up... And I have the same to look forward to atht eh other end when i fit the E-mark strap after the Zorstec baffle turns up
