Can someone please let me know if it is normal for the frame to get quite hot to touch after riding, especially around the cylinder area.
The reason I ask is I have just fitted an new exhaust and after a short ride I found the frame hot to touch, in fact too hot to keep your hand on for a long period. I'm just a little concerned that the new exhaust is leaking hot gasses and that is what is heating the frame. It is a warm day and I was mostly travelling in built up areas so only doing 40 max. Anyone help? |

Just put your hand near to the exhaust (DON'T TOUCH IT!) and rev it, you'll feel the hot gas escape if it's leaking.

Yeap, its normal. The rear cylinder doesn't get much airflow around it so the heat builds up and transfers to the frame. Nothing to worry about mate.

Engine gets hot
Engine is connected to Aluminium (metal) frame Aluminium conducts heat well Frame acts as heatsink Heat travels into Aluminium

get a piece of tissue paper and put it against the exhaust and it should move where the gases are escaping
